    Root diversity is a fascinating topic in the field of botany. The root system of a flowering plant can be classified into three types: taproot system, fibrous root system, and adventitious root system¹. Each of these root systems has its own unique characteristics and functions. For example, the taproot system is characterized by a single, thick root that grows deep into the soil, while the fibrous root system is composed of many small, branching roots that grow shallowly in the soil¹.  There are many ways to measure root diversity, including root morphological and anatomical properties, root capacitance, and root length density¹⁴.
